Holgate Allotments Association
With the help of Goodgym we have already created a lovely community orchard garden and reclaimed an overgrown allotment space to create starter beds for people new to allotmenting. We want to continue to improve Holgate Allotments to bring more of the plots back to life and make it easier for new gardeners to get growing.

Welcome to GoodGym York ๐Ÿ™Œ

๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐ŸƒWe're a friendly and social group who combine exercise with helping out in the local community. Every Monday evening we meet to get active and do a physical task to help the charities or community organisations in our city.

TONIGHT'S TASK๐ŸŒณ

We have been helping Holgate allotments clear a very overgrown and derelict plot so it can be let out to new tenants. The allotments are run by a small number of volunteers and without our help this plot would remain unused. Most of the rubbish and brambles have been cleared in previous tasks so tonight we need to turn over the ground. A good workout guaranteed!

We'll be using hand tools, so please bring gardening gloves if you have them. It will also be dark so bring a head torch although we carry spares, so don't worry if you haven't got one

WHERE WE MEET ๐ŸŽ’

We will be meeting outside the Ackhorne Pub on St Martinโ€™s Lane, YO1 6LR (just off Micklegate). We can leave our bags and valuables in their office, which is secure.

๐ŸšฒThere is cycle parking nearby on both Micklegate and at the Priory Street Centre (as you approach the centre a 10 bay covered cycle parking is to the left in the car park) On street parking is available on Priory Street. These are all only a couple of minutes walk to the new meeting point.

RUNNING AND WALKING WITH US ๐Ÿ‘

GoodGym is for everyone. We welcome runners of all abilities. If you prefer to walk let us know and we can arrange a walking group.

๐Ÿ‘We always have a back-marker too so nobody will get left behind - no matter what your pace is.

POST-RUN SOCIAL ๐Ÿป

We will finish the group session back at The Ackhorne Pub on St Martin's Lane so why not stay for some liquid refreshment and a good chat?

Walkable

You will be able to join a group walking to the task if you'd prefer not to run.

Options are available to run between 3km and 3km in total

Remember that we run/walk to and from the task, so you'll only be running/walking for half this distance in one go.

This is a standard GoodGym group run. If you're worried about any aspect of the session, contact us.
