15 people ran 4k to do a litter pick on the canal whilst getting filmed and interviewed by BBC Midlands today
Tonight, was very different to a usual GG run as we had Midlands Today in attendance! Thanks to Garry for this week’s pun, he thought it up whilst we had a pint after the run! So, back to the media frenzy, the intro was filmed, the group were then filmed coming out of 1000 Trades and leaving the pub. We were heading to the canal, so then met the crew who filmed a shot of us running underneath them.
what more filming?!
Once on our adopted part of the canal, we were filmed running from virtually every angle, up, down, sideways, you name it! The group were then filmed doing their litter picking, not as much as usual was done tonight, due to all the media activities but the group still managed to fill 6 bags full of rubbish. Once that was done we had the interviews. Myself, Garry and Annie duly obliged. I also had a camera shot pretending I was talking to the reporter! I always wondered when you see those shots, are they actually saying anything to each other…...no it literally is yabba, yabba, yabba! After the interviews, we had some further camera shots of the group running, before finishing with a few pictures with the Mids Today team. By the way the picture of the duck with her ducklings is nowt to do with the run, I just thought it was a nice picture and the ducks don't hiss at me when I run past them on the canal like the Canadian geese do!
Overtime
With all this going on we did over-run by around 40 minutes, so thank you so much to the whole group for giving up your precious time and I hope Garry your tea wasn’t fed to the dog! The group will be on BBC Midlands Today at around 7.25am Wednesday morning and then every 30 minutes until 8.55am, we will also be on at lunch and the 6.30pm bulletin, so please tune in when you can!
Next week we will be out doing good again, it would be great if you could join us sign up here.
