Remember back in February when Scandi lifestyle trend 'plogging' took the world by storm? In case you missed it, plogging involves picking up litter and jogging at the same time. A familiar task for a few long-time GoodGym runners.

BBC Breakfast got in touch to ask if they could come along to film GoodGym Lewisham in action on a group run.

So on a rather damp Saturday morning, 17 of us headed out on a group run to help tidy up the banks of the River Quaggy and grab all that nasty litter. Lawrence from Thames 21 was on hand with waders to keep us nice and dry while we trudged through the icy river.

If you watch the video, you'll see a short interview with Jacqueline talking about why she enjoys heading out on a GoodGym group run. Here's what she said:

It does two things: it helps me to get fit and it helps me to learn more about my area.

Picking up litter is just one of the many ways that we help out in our communities each week. From hanging curtains for Mr H because he can't manage it on his own, to shovelling a tonne of compost for the Food Growers Group so they can grow vegetables - every GoodGym run is different.

Whether you're looking to meet new people or discover different places, you're sure to find that on a group run.

Looking for a new way to get fit?

Try a GoodGym group run near you. Every week we work out by helping local community projects, and run back all within 90 minutes. New runners are always welcome and we never leave anyone behind.
