GOODGYM AND ATHLETIC BREWING COMPANY EXTEND PARTNERSHIP TO GROW AND MAINTAIN UK GREEN SPACES

GoodGym and Athletic Brewing Company are extending their partnership after completing more than 4000 sessions to benefit the environment last year. The partnership continues to encourage more people to use their exercise to directly impact the environment, and promote an alcohol-free approach to socialising after exercise. Just like GoodGym, Athletic Brewing Co. is on a mission to positively impact people’s lifestyles, while improving local communities and in turn, the planet we all live on.

Thanks to Athletic Brewing Co.’s support last year, GoodGymers ran, walked and cycled their way to 37,000 good deeds for community groups and older people across England and Wales, covering well over 300,000 km. Athletic Brewing Co.’s alcohol-free beer has become intertwined with how GoodGymers celebrate, becoming integral to raising a toast to a session well done. The continuation of the partnership displays Athletic Brewing Co.’s considerable commitment to do right by the planet, and ensures GoodGym’s 24,000 members never let a milestone go uncelebrated.

A few of the 4000 sessions GoodGymers have completed thanks to Athletic Brewing:

  • Building dead hedges, and insect hotels so small animals can move freely and protected from predators, boosting biodiversity
  • Planting and nurturing small woodlands in urban areas, creating new habitats for flora and fauna
  • Maintaining walking, running and cycling trails through parks to ensure everyone has access to outdoor space and exercise near where they live

“The GoodGym team is a great community team; friendly and fun people who are happy to share their time exploring and contributing to their local environment and community. One of the best things I have found.” - Monika, Richmond

Athletic Brewing Co.'s Two For The Trails grant program is also dedicated to restoring outdoor spaces. Named after their co-founder’s family tradition of taking two brews to toast post-trail adventures, the program is dedicated to protecting the outside places we all love. Since launching the program in 2018, Athletic Brewing has donated over $4.3 million to more than 200 organisations which work to preserve outdoor spaces, and grow the communities which use them.

Ivo Gormley. GoodGym founder and CEO, said:

“Athletic Brewing Co. are forward thinking about what they do on many fronts. The world of running is becoming more sociable and more inclusive and they are adding another layer to this by making drinking brews something that fits in with our lives as runners.

Over the last year they've helped us celebrate tens of thousands of good deeds and supported our environmental work, making our cities greener and better places to run. We hugely value them as partners and are excited about continuing to grow our work together.”

Cara Wilson, B Corp & Two For The Trails Manager, Athletic Brewing Company, said:

“Athletic Brewing supports a wide range of outdoor projects across the U.S., UK, and Canada. This essential funding directly benefits the environment and communities where our customers live, work, and adventure, helping to protect, enhance, and sustain outdoor spaces for generations to come. We are very excited to partner with GoodGym to help support the important work they are doing to help communities and individuals in need around the UK.”

ABOUT GOODGYM

https://www.goodgym.org

GoodGym is a community of 24,000 people combining exercise with helping their communities. Covering most urban areas across the UK, the GoodGym community run, walk and cycle to do physical tasks for community projects and to support older people. In 2024 alone, GoodGym completed more than 4000 sessions devoted to maintaining and growing green space and to increasing biodiversity. GoodGym arose out of a frustration with normal gyms being a waste of energy and human potential. So instead, GoodGym supports and encourages adults to combine regular exercise with helping isolated and older people and community projects.
