The GoodGym January Challenge is the time to get more involved in your health, and your community. Each year we challenge ourselves - and you - to run, walk and cycle as far as possible, achieving as many good deeds as possible as we go.

Our targets

As always, we’re a community working towards a shared target. We’re in this for the good and the reason to get active - but that’s not to say a bit of friendly competition is bad either. Each area will have its own target and you can track your own contributions via the new pledge system which is explained below.

This year we will achieve a mighty 5000 good deeds, and cover 65,000km.

If you find competition motivating, work your way up the leaderboard and help bring glory to your GoodGym area and take home the coveted Golden Trowel.

This time, it’s personal

There’s nothing better than achieving what you set out to do. This year you’re able to create a personal target in the form of a pledge. Create your pledge, achieve it throughout January and attain badges and recognition as you go.

How to get involved

As long as you’re signed up with GoodGym you'll be automatically placed into your area's team, you do not need to do anything. Simply do as many good deeds as you possibly can throughout the month. You can find sessions to sign up to on the sessions page.

How do I get good deeds for my area

Any sessions you attend in the month of January will count towards the good deeds for your area, and our national target. You will gain a good deed for your area no matter where the deed takes place. So a member of GoodGym Worthing can do a session in Brighton and the deed will be given to Worthing. Also, deeds completed by non-members do count. This is an excellent time for newcomers to GoodGym to dive in.

How do I add my distance?

In order to get your runs, walks and cycles counting toward the distance target you'll need to connect Strava to your GoodGym account. Strava is a free fitness tracking app available on both Android and Apple. Simpy download the app to your phone and then connect it to your GoodGym account.

Each time you go out for a run, walk or cycle, start the app on your phone, smartwatch or fitness tracker and log your journey.

If you think you've already connected strava but you don't see your workouts being recorded, try logging out of your account and then back in again. This usually resolves the issue.

Share what you’re up to

We love shouting about the weird, wacky and wonderful things GoodGymers get up to. Check it out for yourself by finding us @goodgym, and don’t forget to tag us in your own posts to get featured.
