Thorlands Garden
Thorlands Garden is the first Camberwell Market Garden in over fifty years! We train volunteers to grow food in this walled garden.

It's group run night and our monthly visit to Simon at Thorlands community garden project. There's always lots to do and for this session we could be:

  • Clearing bindweed
  • Mulching
  • Planting saplings or shrubs
  • Adding more woodchip to the paths through the gardens
  • Managing the compost pile
  • Shaping shrub canopies

New to GoodGym Southwark?

It can be daunting coming to your first group run but we are a nice welcoming bunch! All abilities welcome, whether you're a new runner or have been running for years.

Important Information

We meet at Old Spike Cafe in Peckham from 18:30 for a 18:45 start. You can leave bags in the cafe and use their toilets before we head out if you need to. If meeting at the task, be there for 19:15. Address is Thorlands Gardens, Elsinore House, Denmark Road, London, SE5 9EJ.

After a warm-up, we run together as a group. If there are loads of us, there will be a back marker to ensure no one is left behind. On this run, we will be running 3km to Thorlands (aiming to get to the task in 20 minutes). We will spend 45-50 minutes doing the tasks Simon has for us then run 3km back to Peckham (back by 20:30 latest).

Bring a head torch and gardening gloves if you have them.

New to GoodGym?

This is a GoodGym group run, where we run to help a local community organisation and then run back.

New GoodGymers are welcome to GoodGym group runs - no one gets left behind. You're unlikely to be alone, hundreds of new people sign up every week.

Options are available to run between 6km and 6km in total

Remember that we run to and from the task, so you'll only be running for half this distance in one go.

This is a standard GoodGym group run. If you can't run for more than 15mins without stopping or you're worried about any aspect of the session, contact us or see if there's a starter session coming up in your area.

There's space to change and leave bags and toilets. We're not planning to do anything purposefully dangerous, but GoodGym takes no responsibility for your safety during group runs, you participate at your own risk. Participants accept full responsibility for items stored at Old Spike Roastery, and Old Spike Roastery and GoodGym will not be held liable for any losses or damages.
