1 Potato, 2 Potato, 3 Potato, 4
4 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Southwark.
- Sunday, 7th of May 2017
Good Sunday Goodgymmers! Today, 4 runners (Helen, Kim, Beth and me (Mridula)) ran over to Mr. B's house to help him de-weed his garden. He wants it cleared so he can work on replanting, and so far it's the second mission that has gone over to his house to help him out.
Today marked my first mission together with my best bud Helen. When she told me that she was joining me on the mission this week, I felt that even though we've known each other 8 years, this was a very important step in our friendship. Doing your first mission together holds the same gravitas as when middle aged couples decide to get a joint national trust membership together. It means a friendship for life (or at least for the term of the membership).
Joining us today, were Beth (439 missions and doing 3 this weekend!) and Kim who did three missions last week and successfully manipulated me into doing the run reports. Kim had kicked off this mission last week, but there was a lot of de-weeding to do, so we came back to help out some more. Interesting anecdote about Beth, she works as a geneticist. From the colour of her leggings, I imagined that she worked in a lab creating an army of goodgym spidermen, with eyebeams that helped obliterate weeds with tough roots. However, I suspect her real job is much more noble, and much less mad scientist.
We realised just how much a daunting task this was, as there was a small forest of potatoes growing in the back yard. Kim and co had done an excellent job of de weeding last week, and we continued the task at hand. Helen and Beth began to tackle further back in the yard, and Kim and I tackled further front. We again burned through a wide variety of topics including the upcoming goodgym olympics, the trip to Riga and general goodgym gossip. Did you know there is an upcoming goodgym wedding? I suppose the DBS checks do give you an additional level of comfort in the tough dating pool of today, should you choose to find your partner at a group run.
Also, in our politically divisive times, I'm pleased to say we all unanimously agreed on one topic. We debated the “hypothetical” situation, where if you were on a group run, and the mission owner was very handsome, was it OK to vociferously acknowledge this, and also be more likely to return to the group run if there was a return to the location. Overwhelmingly the results came in as yes. We also agreed that it was ok to give the handsome owner a punny nickname.
Again proving that 8 hands can make light work of a potato filled garden, we continued on for an hour, and managed to clear an entire side of the garden. I also like to think the freakishly large potato I pulled out of the ground, cements my vegetarian Viking reputation and really was the high point of the mission.
There is a considerable amount to do for Mr. B, and I suspect we will be back to do some more. If you haven't gotten yourself mission verified as of yet, I would encourage you to do so. You get to make someone very very happy by doing something they wouldn't be able to do themselves. And you can get your heart rates up and extra calorie burn from all the gossiping! Till next time!

' I suppose the DBS checks do give you an additional level of comfort in the tough dating pool of today, should you choose to find your partner at a group run.' I can barely breathe.
I only fancy people who are mission verified.
