2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Islington.
- Friday, 22nd of May 2020
Today marked Katβs 50th GoodGym deed, so it was my privilege to join her for a Mission in the old style β two people shifting furniture. We were removing a bed so that Mr. J could get a new one brought in before coming out of hospital. We were met by his neighbour and her dear little doggy, who apparently was deaf.
Fortunately the four bolts that held the bed together had worked themselves pretty loose anyway, so it was really quick to do what was needed with the minimal tools we had. As we left with the pieces, people came out from other flats to ask after Mr. J, so it was nice to see he has a social network to return to, especially at a time like this.
We took a quick photo with the doggy whoβd been following us back and forth with all the bed bits before leaving.
It was a 14km round trip walking (and a wee bit of running) so a nice chance to get some sun on our skin, some pollen in our eyes, and spectate on plenty of cats out luxuriating in the sun.
