A piece of cake!
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Hammersmith and Fulham.

This week I went back to Mr L for a bit of Iceland shopping. Mr L likes Madeira cake, which made me wonder what its origin actually is. This is what Wiki told me: 'It is sometimes mistakenly thought to originate from the Madeira Islands; however, that is not the case as it was named after Madeira wine, a Portuguese wine from the islands, which was popular in England in the mid-1800s and was often served with the cake. Madeirans produce their own traditional cake – bolo de mel, a dark, spicy, honey cake – which is very different from Madeira cake.' A little educational nugget there for my readers! We had a lovely chat after the shopping trip, and Mr L shared a few pictures with me of his first wife, second, and I believe his third wife too (I may or may not have lost count).
