A sad deed

I have been volunteering to deliver library books for a couple of years now. In Autumn 2019 I was assigned a new service user to deliver books to. I had delivered books and chatted with her a few times in 2019 and 2020 before I went to Peru. (and got stuck there on lockdown!) I called her in April when I got home from Peru and a family member answered and I explained that I was a home library volunteer. I was told that she had passed away :( I was asked what they should do with the (audio)books if they can find them. I explained if they can't be found i'm sure the library will understand however all of the books were found and I offered to collect them to drop off to the library once they have opened again, so it's one less thing for the family to worry about at this difficult time. I collected a bag of books at the weekend to keep at home until I can take them back to a library; it was a reflective walk home. I will miss choosing books and delivering them to her and I am thinking of the family during this difficult time.
