Back to the Fuchsia!
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Liverpool.
- Saturday, 21st of May 2022
Mrs A is a carer for her husband who has complex health problems. They have also recently very sadly had a bereavement with the loss of their daughter, and were in need of a bit of GoodGym help to tackle a bramble invasion of their back garden. Their son also helps the couple a great deal, and had already tackled the overgrown lawn. Thanks to the tools provided, Jo and Roz made short work of the brambles, making space for a lovely fuchsia bush that Mrs A had planted many years ago to flourish, and clearing fences and rose bushes from the spiky intruder. There was also some bamboo making its way through from an adjoining garden which was very satisfying to cut back. As there were no pandas on hand to make use of it we trimmed the stems to make half a dozen usable plant supports - I think some runner bean plants may be in order! A hour or so later we had filled a green bin, plus another large garden waste bag, and stacked the excess clippings out of the way. Mrs A and her son were very interested to hear about GoodGym and we left them discussing plans to install a bench in the newly cleared space so that the family can enjoy the summer weather and have some respite from the challenges they have faced recently.
