Bedder late than never
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in York.
- Monday, 8th of August 2022
On a sunny Monday morning, two GoodGym humans cycled to Haxby to help Mrs B come home from hospital.
Mrs B is almost ready to come home from hospital to finish recuperating in a nice, familiar setting. The healthcare team just had a couple of problems: her bed needed moving into the living room so she could sleep down there, and a sofa needed moving from the living room so that there was room for the bed.
Dom met the healthcare worker E (who he had previously worked with on a similar task) at the property, to learn that Leanne was rather delayed. Leanne hopped on her bike and rode at the speed of light to catch up with us, and Dom and E made a start with the task.
Dom and E made a couple of pragmatic decisions to keep things moving (moving armchairs is often easier than moving a sofa, and moving armchairs outside and around the house to the conservatory seems counterintuitive but expedient!) and Leanne joined us to help with the last bits. With some elbow grease, experimentation, and plenty of rotation, the job was done. Mission accomplished.
