Shouts out to Chris good luck with op next week – heal well!
First up this week was Vic T who has been keen to get back and join us after some time out with an injury. As we caught up Sarah arrived, closely followed by Chris and Andy. We headed outside for our briefing and warm up before setting off in search of this weeks light at the Rec.
our 1st year anniversary plans for next week
As we arrived at the rec Joan sprang into action along with two of the volunteers from the Hub café and we gathered the tools we’d need then headed over to one of the entrances to the rec where we’d be weeding the area and generally sprucing up the place. As we worked, conversation spanned our 1st year anniversary plans for next week to politics and some of the things our new prime minister had voted for and against in the past.
old footage of the model road layout from it’s opening back in 1938
As we pushed ever closer to 8pm everyone huddled together to get the last section of the border around the flower bed cleared of weeds and long grass. In the end we managed to fill 9 green waste bags full to the brim of bindweed and perennials. A high five was in order here. Great effort here guys. Joan was super pleased as we really did make an impression and users of the park will definitely notice an improvement in that area. We then headed to the model road layout to do an out and back drill with some hustles and reverse dips thrown in for good measure. I had mentioned finding some old footage of the model road layout from it’s opening back in 1938. You can see this HERE.
Back at HQ we warmed down before heading home for some well deserved din dins.
Next week is GoodGym Haringey’s 1st year anniversary and we’d love to see you at either the task or social but it would be great to have you attend both. Click HERE to sign up for next week’s task & social.
Until then – stay fit, do good and look out for the light.
