That Laurel was Hardy
5 GoodGymers made their way to help the Urban Green Newcastle in Newcastle.

We were back at Iris Brickfield park in Heaton again today to do what the GoodGym Newcastle park crew do best - chopping down trees. Today was a speciality of ours as well, chopping down trees round the edge of parks to make easier to see into.
We focused on a smaller patch today for maximum impact. Chris, Andrew and myself started cutting down the cherry trees with everything from loppers to bow saws whilst Amy took charge of dicing up the cut-down trees into smaller bits so we could easily put them in the undergrowth. We also had two lovely members of the public come and assist us as well, one of whom said he'd happily take some of the longer trees as sticks to use in his garden so Andrew stepped up and made sure the logs were in tip top shape.
Andy then came along and made short work of the laurel that had gone out of control and the rest of us continued fighting with the cherry trees.
The time flew by at this parks tasks and even though we got all the types of weather possible, we did some great work and it's been so great having other members of the public come give us a hand.
If you would like to join us helping improve the parks around Newcastle, come join us tomorrow at Harbottle park and we will be back in three weeks at St Lawrence Park! See you there!!
