Chair today, gone tomorrow
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Haringey.
- Thursday, 19th of November 2020
When Amanda and Sarah each saw this morning that there was a mission 0 km from home, neither could refuse! With Sarah coming from a few steps north, and Amanda coming from a few steps south, they converged on Ms N's flat at the appointed time.
Ms N's daughter Pam let us in and showed us what was to be done to move furniture so her mother could come home from hospital: First, a reclining chair had to be moved upstairs Second, side tables moved out of the way Third, a sofa moved along the wall and another sofa rotated and placed alongside the first
Getting the recliner out of narrow door, up a narrow stairway (with a stair lift providing an extra obstacle) and finally, through another narrow door was the most challenging task. But three heads are better than one and between them Amanda, Sarah and Pam did the mental arithmetic (geometry?) and between them figured out the only angle at which it would work.
After that, moving the sofas was a relatively simple task, made only slightly trickier by some raised feet they seemed determined not to stay together with.
All three assessed the space created and assessed it ready for Ms N's return tomorrow!
