This evening, Sam and I met to do a mission in Mr D's garden. Some missions don't require a huge amount of work, and some do. This was definitely 100% in the latter camp. So very much in the latter camp that it has all its letters posted there and is looking into registering at that camp's GP surgery.

When Mr D's lovely neighbours, J and M, met us, they presented us with a bag of tools. These were some shiny, effective looking tools, which were a clue as to the challenge that awaited us. When we walked through Mr D's home, we got the chance to say hi and introduce ourselves, which is always nice.

Once we were all introduced, we headed through the back door where we were met by 3 trees, each a fair bit taller than us, and were relieved to see that beyond these was a medium sized garden covered in weeds.

We decided we'd spend an hour and a half working, so we quickly set about working, alternating between chopping away at the trees, and yanking up as much of the weeds as we could. As the garden's surface was solid concrete, it meant the weeds were super easy - and satisfying - to pull up, which was a nice relief. The only iffy moment was when I discovered a (actually adorable) caterpillar on my arm and let out probably the most ridiculous shriek in GoodGym history.

After an hour and a half, we'd taken care of the trees and a big chunk of the undergrowth (around 10 bags worth); one day it might need a bit more love, but for now, we made a huge dent in the plantiness of it all, and Mr D will be able to enjoy a nicer view (and a bit more sun) through his back window.
