It was the last open-day before Christmas at the FoodShare Shop. Just like everywhere else at this time of the year, there was a big rush at the shop. Having arrived at 11:30, I instantly started helping Annie bring the fresh foods from the corner storage across the road. There were bags of carrots and broccoli and onions the size of my hand! The lovely Annie had taken me under her wing and gives me great advice on how to make some less-loved foods, look nice.
There were the smallest bunches of spring onions just starting to dry and she told me to snip them away. "Sharp edges make it last longer", she said and I took the scissors to them!
There were surprise hampers at the exit and every family/individual got one. The thankful and happy faces were hugely satisfying :)
