Cider can crushing on a Tuesday night
2 GoodGymers made their way 3.0km to help their local community in Derby.
- Tuesday, 19th of April 2022
- Led by Rachel Carthy
Ashley and Rachel met in Derby city centre and litter picked along a route to St Joseph's Roman Catholic Church on Burton Road for a change of location and catchup after the Easter weekend.
Covering just over 2 miles litter was collected from the city centre, Burton Road and the church grounds. Discarded masks were a popular find as were food packaging containers and empty beer and cider cans. There are a few food outlets and convenience stores along the road so lots of rubbish to be collected. Some of the local residents thanked the duo for their efforts and hopefully the church will be grateful that their car park and surrounding road is looking a lot cleaner. Two full bags were collected and cans had been crushed to ensure the bags could be filled as much as possible or were put in recycling bins when these were found.
Great that the whole session could be done in daylight and to see the city centre looking busier with people visiting and even some live guitar music at one point.
