5 GoodGymers made their way to help the Abbey Gardens in Newham.

What a lovely start to the weekend, helping Abbey Gardens out with some weeding and planting at their open day. Rosa, Paul, Hil and me got to work planting out various shrubs and plants that had been positioned in the raised beds where they were to be planted. Graham made an ‘impressive’ haul of parsnips and baby potatoes. Impressive because none of us had ever seen such teeny weeny parsnips before ;)
Just as we had finished the difficult task of separating heavily rooted grass plants and were about to leave, Hil’s beady eyes spied yet more shrubs for planting, so with a final push we got them all done. We ended with a little trip to what seems to be our new local, The Refreshment Room. Joyful stuff.
