Deluged refuge cues enthused move
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in York.
- Wednesday, 12th of January 2022
Today two GoodGymmers went to Mr T's house to help him with a practical task.
Mr T's flat recently flooded, meaning his carpets have had to be removed and his furniture (now damp and a bit rotten) needs replacing. He's being helped out by the council, who contacted GoodGym to see if we could help remove some of the old furniture ready for collection (which will allow them to measure for new carpets, which will allow new furniture to come in, which will just be ace).
Angela and I showed up to discover a lot of the furniture had already been taken out - Mr T and his social worker showing that teamwork makes the dream work. Angela and I were able to move a couple of wardrobes with the help of the others, and then Mr T gave me a hand getting his old chair out as well.
After no more than ten or fifteen minutes, we were all done. With Mr T and his social worker make plans for getting his home nice and comfortable once more, Angela and I headed off happy to have helped out.
