Draining the swamp
6 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Lambeth.
- Saturday, 18th of February 2017
On a lovely Saturday morning me and 5 other GoodGymers met up with Jerry to help him give the Palace Nature Gardens a good spring clean, the lovely Jerry was there to meet us and had a plenty of tools ready to be used including the whopper if a sythe. One of the orders of the day was to remove all the rubbish and wood that had recently been thrown into the lake, David and Andrew wacked on the wellies and got down to business straight away.removing all the big logs from the lake and then due to the size forfeited the trolley and give their arms a workout by carrying them to the compost tip.
Rebecca and I were on making the site look a bit more presentable after feeling the effects of half term so I got down to sweeping the paths clear of wet leaves and Rebecca donned the litter picker and ensure no stone was left unturned in her quest to get all sweet wrappers from the site.
Dan and Rachel took care of removing all dead plants and weeds from the front using all manner of tools and after a couple hours we managed to remove a nice chunk of space which would have taken Jerry a long time to do by himself. I also spoke with Jerry and sound like he has quite a few exciting plans coming up which hopefully team Lambeth can get our teeth stuck into.
All in all I think it was mission complete and Jerry gave the thumbs up, I think we can safely say it got a spring clean. Nice one, Tom
