Summer is finally here! To celebrate, 20 terrific runners ran just over 4km to help out the Greenhouse Project.
It has been a long time coming, but finally Team GG Liverpool were decked out in their shorts, leaving their base layers at home and saying a big hello and welcome to the sunshine. This week the team were treated to a warm up lead by John before we ran the flat 2km-ish to the Greenhouse Project, a multicultural children's centre that raises aspirations.
The project manages a landscaped area at the front of its building which is a community green space on busy Lodge Lane. Our task was to get rid of the weeds, brush out long grass and remove the dead ends from lavender plants. There was also some litter picking to be done. This big team jumped into action, with some finding the grass brushing therapeutic while the lavender was a bit more challenging (hope you got that splinter sorted George, or should I say, Lavender Man!?).
This week's shout out goes to Rowan for joining us even after smashing their PB at their first ever crossfit competition this weekend! And also a big welcome and well done to newbie Emma - you did great!
Job done and we headed a different way back to base, stopping in Crown Street Park for a quick fitness session. Two rounds of high knees up a short hill didn't prove too challenging, in fact, I think some of the team actually enjoyed it ;)
With my own knee playing up, I handed the batten to Christine who lead us the final 1km back to base - nice one.
Another super week team. It was great to have so many of you join us this week, will you be back next Monday? Find out more and sign-up for next week's Group Run here and check out Saturday's Community Mission here.
