OH BEE-HAVE!
Tonight's run took us to the lovely meadow at St John's Church for some heliotrope weeding and bramble trimming. We met in the Bridge House as usual, discussed what we'd name our pubs if we owned one (Steve even had his prepared! Some other solid choices: The Barracuda, The Tall Bear, The Starfish...), and then we had a speedy warm up in the park before heading off to the church.
BEE BRAVE
We met Helen who had two tasks prepared for us:
Team 1 (Kat, Ian, Hannah and Cat) were in the bee area with their legs covered in preparation for some prickly customers - a hell of a lot of brambles, stinging nettles (and a couple of blue bells!). The plan was to blitz an area of it, stuffing the plant cuttings into a big bag.
Team 2 (Nick, Maxim and Steve) were in an area which was to be transformed into a wildflower meadow, but first a load of heliotrope (helio is sun in Greek don'tcha know!) weeds needed uprooting and sticking on the compost.
Armed with secateurs, forks, trowels and shears both teams got to work and both areas were looking much clearer by the time we'd (weed) finished.
Ace work gang!
We had a quick game of Rock, Paper, Scissors (with sprints and planks) before jogging back to base.
