Freeze a jolly good fir-low
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Southwark.
- Saturday, 24th of February 2018
Our mission this freezing but sunny Saturday morning was to return to Mrs M and continue helping with her huge garden. Today she particularly wanted us to remove the ivy that had run riot over her back wall and had blocked out her window.
I was worried about pulling the entire wall down along with the ivy, but David had no such worries and got stuck in. We soon realised that we could maximise efficiency with me leaning out of the window and pulling down the ivy, and David attacking from below.
David persevered down to the last stubborn bit of ivy, and we were rewarded with a beautiful view of the Imperial War Museum from the window.
We still had plenty of time so I tidied up the big fir while David tidied up the ivy and cleared some of the walled garden.
After a much appreciated tea and cake break, we finished up and headed on our way, with thanks from Mrs M and her daughter. As this was a return visit for me, I was very pleased to hear "You always do SUCH a good job"
