Frozen frog βοΈπΈ
Fresh from our Community Mission at Millennium Green, our arrival at Clitterhouse Farm was marked by an introduction to a very cold frog that our task owner Patrick had found whilst tidying-up. Like the rest of us, the weather had rendered it somewhat frigid and subdued which meant we got a chance to give it a jolly good look with our eyes before we got to work (NB: it may have been a toad btw)
Unlucky for some
Only three weeks prior, a lucky 13 GoodGymmers had been along to the farm to help-out on a Community Mission, but with only a few pairs of hands there ordinarily, there was now plenty for us to do again... To start with, the area the frog/toad had called home was to be cleared of clutter, a load of plant pots were to be sorted by size, and some bags of soil and pallets were to be moved.
With that taken care of we were reassigned, with Liz helping Patrick to build something out of pallets (soundtracked by Good Charlotte and Nirvana LOUDLY playing on a Bluetooth speaker) whilst the rest of us emptied out some enormous cubes of soil, slinging the rubble and salvaging the bulbs that had impressively survived this far into Winter. Whilst we worked digging away, we discussed awkward GoodGym Missions weβd experienced or knew of, and the fact that some of us seem to have extended families populated by utter maniacs!
Burning caterpillar π₯ π
Our second Deed in the bag and feeling the cold after digging in the wind coming-off Cricklwood airstrip, we all went to hide in the heated greenhouse and toast some milestones.
True to form Liz had brought treats for people, meat-free Percy Pigs and Oreo biscuits for the fussy eaters, and for those in the mood to properly celebrate, a Colin the Caterpillar cake for Abiβs 50th (now unexpectedly 51st ) GoodGym deed.
Also unexpected was this Community Mission now marked Lizβs own 100th GoodGym deed, so she skewered the effigy of a cheerful anthropomorphised caterpillar with flaming sticks of wax, and they both then extinguished the flames together with their breath.. Congratulations!! Go and give her a cheer here for batting her GoodGym century!
