Here we mow again!
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Southwark.
- Sunday, 2nd of June 2019
Lucia and I (Vic) arrived at Ms Z’s house at the exact same time which was a good sign that the task would be a good one! We met Ms Z and her two close friends who would be helping us while Ms Z would make it her mission to keep offering to feed and water us! The lawn itself was starting to get a bit overgrown but nothing we weren’t able to tackle with a bit of enthusiasm and all the tools we were provided with, including our two helpers who had been meaning to start it but “needed a bit of encouragement” (their words not ours!)
I was quite keen to have a go at the mowing while Lucia got stuck in to weeding the borders and patio area while we had a chat and got to know each other, and Ms Z’s lovely friends who did a fine job of cutting back some rather wild looking bushes.
We enjoyed the sunshine before stepping back to admire our handiwork. The lawn was now looking like a lawn again, the bushes trimmed back and the borders weeded.
We were thanked profusely and after reassuring Mrs Z that we would absolutely manage to make the short journey home without provisions we said goodbye, leaving Mrs Z and her friends able to enjoy the space safely.

Sounds great, well done both. It's great that you didn't just help Mrs Z, but gave those around her more confidence to support her as well!
