Here's a lovely report from runner Pritesh;

We think winter has finally set in - after a weekend of somewhat summery weather Monday night in Tower Hamlets was dark and cold but at least the rain had passed.

Check the technique

After looking forward to two fun sounding tasks, we were met with the new that these has unfortunately been cancelled. No matter, we were all there and in good spirits and we had Shaun from Camden GoodGym to take us on a an interval session to work on our running technique.

Horse Play

After a warm up run we congregated at Well Street Common and went through some muscle looseners before Shaun showed us various methods to work on our technique when running. The trick is to make your heel come up in level with your knee under your bum! That obviously makes no sense in type but Shaun was on hand to demonstrate. After a number of exercises to work on this whilst on the spot we were unleashed on some short runs. There was a lot of horse imagery at play as we worked to cycle our legs in such a way that we pushed up diagonally from the heel, made sure we planted our feet well and maintained the position of our heels in relation to the rest of our bodies!

Shouty man

After we had had a few practices at this we broke into an interval session and we did five repeats of a 2minute run (gear 3), a 1 minute rest and then a 1 minute run (gear 4)! This was a lot tougher than it sounded especially whilst trying to ensure that we kept the correct technique that we had just learned. Shaun thoroughly outshouted the BMF training session that was going on in the space we were running around and we enjoyed a tiring but enjoyable session.

Thanks to Shaun for leading the session and Tom will be back next week!
