Not an electoral pledge (although anyone proposing these would probably get my vote), but the two things that made me smile during today's shop for the always friendly Miss S. The first was that amongst her list of items was a bag of Jelly Babies - something she said she hadn't had in a long time, so I was determined to find the biggest bag I could find.

Although I'd been doing rough mental arithmetic in my head on the way round the aisles, I was delighted (no seriously, I really was) when the total on the screen at Tesco came to £29.92 - not just for the symmetry of the figures (one for all you maths aficionados), but that we'd come in 8p under budget.

As previously mentioned on these pages, sometimes it's the simplest things that make these missions so enjoyable!
