Thank you to Elizabeth Halford & Liz Kerr for signing up and volunteering at the Norwich Junior parkrun this morning.
They both supported 176 Junior parkrunners this morning! Elizabeth reports that Norwich Junior parkrun were really pleased to have the GG volunteers on board as they are always short of marshalls - good work guys!
Elizabeth said "Lovely morning for running. Lots of excited children, both of us were marshalls. I was the last corner before the run to the line so most were excited to reach the end, plenty of smiles. Very rewarding to see lots of runners of all ages and be able to encourage them".
Liz Kerr was marshall at the second point at the bottom avenue where parkrun finishes - "Great to see how enthusiastic the children were. Three got their half marathon wrist bands before the race". Liz makes a really good point which I had forgotten to mention.
If your little ones run then they can work their way up to achieveing wristbands and online certificates (see photos). Your little ones name will get announced the week after they achieve their distance. Don't worry if you can't make it, they have a list and you can go and collect another time :) More information about this is displayed at the bandstand at Norwich Juniors. Its a good way of rewarding effort (us grown ups love a medal right?!)
Half marathon club (11 runs) - blue wristband & certificate
Marathon club (21 runs) - green wristband & certificate
Ultra marathon club (50 runs) - orange wristband & certificate
100 junior parkruns - certificate only
Stephen Reed's son Jack ran for the first time and did it in an amazing time of 9mins 15secs, coming in at 19th place - Woah Jack!! You are actually flying in that photo! (and also watch out Dad he's quick!! hehe! )
Stephen said "It was our 1st Junior parkrun, thought it was excellent and great to see so many kids running with smiles and thanks to all the volunteers for making this happen weekly".
