Keep naan and curry on!
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Southwark.
- Friday, 15th of May 2020
Afternoon goodgymmers! I went over to Mrs M's house to help her out with her grocery shopping this afternoon. It was a pretty stressful journey over to her this afternoon as thanks to the beautiful weather, everyone seemed to be out and about.
I wandered over to Mrs M's house to be greeted by two men at her door and a carer. I understood eventually that Mrs M had limited mobility and these appeared to be her carers who were shielding in place with her. I was handed a short list and off I went.
One of the items on Mrs M's list was a chicken curry which was a dangerous thing to ask an Indian person to buy who also a food snob. I put my ego aside and bought her a korma which had the closest amalgamation of authentic spices, because I couldn't bring myself to get her a tikka masala. The name itself doesn't make sense. It's basically means spicey spices. And whilst we are at it, chai tea translates to tea tea and naan bread to bread bread.. Rant over! And maybe don't talk to me about Indian food, unless you want 4 hour lecture on it. If you don't believe me, just ask my ex housemate who didn't speak to me for a week, because I wouldn't shut up about a ready meal she bought.
I went back to Mrs M's house with all items, and waited whilst one of her carers checked that she had exactly what she wanted. She was happy and I headed back home into the beautiful day that was today.
Stay safe goodgymmers!
