This week we went out as an awesome foursome on a frosty night to clear a footpath by a playground where a tree had fallen over and blocked the way.
First task was to cut away the thick ivy that was completely surrounding the tree. We soon realised there was much more ivy than tree, but it put up a good fight! It took a good 30 minutes of sawing away to get down to the main trunk and finally cut it in two so that we could manage to move it.
Most of the ivy was piled by the road for collection. The tree trunks were left to rot by the river as important habitat for the bugs and critters. Some other smaller trees and branches were also cleared to make easier access to the river too.
Finally, the icy weather kept us cool as we jogged the long slog back into town, picking up a few odd bits of litter along the way.
