9 hot hero's ran 9k to Broomfield allotments to dig a ditch
Despite record temperatures and a record distance run for Goodgym Chelmsford 9 runners headed off along some pleasant foot paths down to Main Road Broomfield where Tim was waiting for us with several Jobs to do!
The first task was to dig a ditch which was not deep enough and some of the team got straight to work. The soil was heavy and clay-like and contained added objects such as wood and concrete, we even found what might have been a decent bottle of red! Mean while some of the cleared branches were lopped down to size and some beds were cleared ready for use.
A huge impact was made and the team shared a cold lemon juice before setting off back towards base.
But even this was not enough as the team opted for some additional efforts, with hills up and down the avenues on the way back! great team spirit as always as we all congratulated each other on our efforts back at base. a quick stretch and we were done for the night, really pleased with our run and our efforts at the allotments!
Next week we have a 2.2k run (each way) to the 26th Chelmsford, Great Baddow scout hut to Bag up some compost and weeds that have been dumped on their land. sign up here!
See you next week!
