Making room for a new resident
4 GoodGymers made their way to help the St Matthew's Church in Derby.
- Tuesday, 19th of September 2023
- Led by Rachel Carthy
Ashley, Pete, Mandy and Rachel were back at St Matthew's Church to help David from the church with some maintenance in the garden of rest. The group's main task was to locate and uncover the grave of an individual who was having the ashes of a family member join them in their place of rest. After locating the grave, some elbow grease was required to uncover the headstone fully and also give it a wipe down so the engraving was more visible.
David was really pleased that the grave had been located and uncovered and is keen to show the family what a transformation has taken place.
The group joined David where some more trees needed a haircut and put all the garden waste into special bags.
There was lots to catch up on from home renovation projects, parkrun course favourites, upcoming run events and areas of beauty in Northumberland which most of the group had visited and would recommend. Pete received a few bags of donations for the food bank he volunteers at and who are now taking clothing items, all gratefully received.
Thanks everyone for taking part and especially to those who brought tools along to use on the evening.
