I spent a Sunday morning early shift down in the car park entrance with Martin, who's been volunteering with Barts NHS for quite a while now. He normally does a few days a week at the ExCeL and almost always at the car park entrance, where about half of the people arriving for their vaccine enter. It was great to be mentored by an absolute expert at this particular spot, whilst in return, I was able to fill Martin in on anything important shared on the volunteers' WhatsApp group, which he's not on as a result of a general disinterest in owning a smart phone. Although it felt like a fairly sedate tickle of people throughout the shift, the people count was around 200, all sent up in the right direction, making sure they had the necessary information about their booking to hand to ensure a swift check-in later on.
