Milking the queue's
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Hackney.
- Saturday, 25th of April 2020
This morning, gloves and sanitiser in hand, I ran to Ms E’s house to drop off some essential shopping.
Ms E is a young woman who is currently isolating with her newborn baby. She is an asylum seeker and on very low income and does not have any support or someone who can do shopping for her. Enter GoodGym.
I managed to pick all the essentials; baby milk formula, whole milk, fruit, vegetables, baby wipes (and a little present may have slipped in for baby, courtesy of my own purse, of course!) from Tesco, but then had to try 5-6 shops for the elusive newborn nappies. Made me really feel for new mums at this time, they just don't seem to be anywhere! Favourite response from a shop assistant when I asked where the nappies were was, 'for babies'? Which made me think, does he think I need a nappy for me?! I didn't think I looked THAT stressed.
ANYWAY, I managed to find everything in the end, and after a little bit of a mix up with addresses (google maps sent me to the same house number elsewhere) I managed to drop the shopping off bright and early so she could enjoy the rest of her day stress free.
It felt so rewarding to see Ms E’s smile (from 2m away!) and I am glad to be able to make a difference to someone who needs the support.
