Mowers and Rakers
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Hackney.
- Thursday, 16th of May 2019
Rebecca and Marta wrapped up a day in the office by helping Mr and Mrs S with their overground garden.
Mr and Mrs S live with two full time carers so their son was waiting to explain the task at hand. During a quick introduction Mrs S shared a glimpse of her extraordinary life. She explained she arrived in the UK in the 1930's on the Kinder Express, leaving Germany ahead of WW2.
Rebecca and Marta were then shown the garden that hadn't been mown in over a year. They had an hour to tame it as much as possible to allow the carers to tidy up the hedges. Getting stuck right in Marta mowed whilst Rebecca followed, raking and bagging the cut grass. With determination the pair managed to clear almost all the grass to allow Mr and Mrs S to enjoy their garden once more.
