No Pine, No Gain
8 GoodGymers made their way to help the Westbury Banks Nature Reserve in Haringey.

8 Goodgymmers branched out by indulging in some amateur tree amputation whilst helping the Westbury Banks Nature Reserve to deal with an abundance of discarded Christmas trees.
A tree-mendous effort
There was no beating around the bush as our Goodgymmers pulled up their sleeves and explored the long avenues and roads of the Noel Park Estate in search of discarded Christmas trees to take back to the reserve.
After about an hour, in which Luke and members of the Noel Park Big Local also scoured the area in a van, we had collected a grand total of 32 trees!
Back at the reserve, we proceeded to de-limb the trees whilst keeping a safe two metre distance at all times – safety first.
We used the pines from the trees to pave the tree avenues and pathways on the site – the pines acting as a natural weed suppressant. The trunks will be used at a later date too.
There will be another tree sorting session later in the month – all being well and the blooming bug easing up a bit the pressure on our lovely NHS, we’ll be there too. Look out for it.
