Nothing really mattress when you have a Silent Night
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Southwark.
- Friday, 31st of January 2020
You can do many things during your lunch break: eat, sleep, watch cat videos on YouTube (I prefer sports highlights, but each to their own) or like these two GoodGymers run (or take an Uber) to help out an elderly man replace his bed.
Ellie and Sam met on a cold, but bright day in East Dulwich/Peckham to meet Hannah, the occupational therapist, M (a relative of Mr N) and Mr N. The task was simple: dismantle and take away the mechanical bed layer by layer. What first seemed like an impossible job ended up being a 20 minute task helped by the Southwark Council who brought a 2 man crew to bring in the new bed. The operation was swiftly coordinated by Hannah and M to ensure minimal disturbance to Mr N's day.
We thank Mr N and M for letting into their home, Hannah for organising it all and the two crew men who tirelessly do this day-in and day-out.
All the best to Ellie, who is often very busy with work and life, but at least she is on her 3rd Good Deed and hope plenty more will come. Hope she finds some spare time to train for the Hackney Half!
