Painting the giddy goat
5 GoodGymers made their way to help the Ballast Quay Community Garden in Greenwich.

The weather was sunny and warm, making it the perfect Saturday morning for a task by the river. As we arrived, Diane explained the tasks to be done: some weeding and sweeping to clear part of the path, chosen by Francis; plant watering, taken by Vic and Michelle; and sanding and painting a goat sculpture and attached plaque, the task elected by Katrin and myself.
Chatting, laughing and petting Tom the dog every 5 minutes, we got on with whatever task we were doing. The path was looking clearer and the flowers were quenching their thirst. With the iron goat and plaque all sanded down, we paused for a quick tea and biscuits before painting the goat a glossy black. After some debate about whether the goat looked better in its rusty old coat or the new glossy one, we all agreed that the black sheep was the winner.
Until next time!
PS - all title pun credits go to Diane - thank you for the pun, and for teaching me a new expression!
