This week's GG Islington fitness challenge was a classic Pyramid session, a classic staple for tempo running which engages the aerobic (endurance) and anaerobic (sprint) energy systems.
The structure for this workout starts with shorter, faster reps, moving into longer, less intensive reps, and then back towards the quick intervals. The objective would be to maintain similar performances between the first and the final repeats, and to keep a smooth transition between intensity and pace.
Sally used the outer perimeter of Parliament Hill Track as a base for her interval session, and kept a consistent pace despite the slopes.
Faye made a really cool local loop around her neighbourhood for her workout, and wrote down all of the interval splits on her hand!
Becca found a round route around Corbyn Street, and picked up some impressive Strava segments during her intervals.
Trainer Simon ran to a purpose built running track in Canning Town Recreational Park for his workout.
Well done everyone. Excellent running, and great efforts all round!
This week's session has now been uploaded to the website. It's a fun one called: Blind Pacing (Running on Feel)- part game, part interval session!
Happy Running! Stay Safe!
