Race the Rain
3 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in York.
- Saturday, 28th of July 2018
Mrs I had booked us for a perfect slot between storms on a Saturday morning. By the time 3 GoodGym Yorkies arrived at her house, the torrential rain had just about stopped and the sun was starting to come out.
At the grand old age of 99, Mrs I needed a bit of help sweeping up some leaves from her drive so that she didn't fall over when she was walking outside of the house. Easy enough, until you take into account the fact that the leaves had been freshly moistened by the rain. The broom was less than effective, so the three of us diligently picked them up by hand.
Mrs I wasn't convinced that it was the right weather for gardening, but we persuaded her that we could also manage to trim the tops of the hedges in her back garden, and do some general weeding to save her a bit of money on her gardening bill.
As we worked, the sky started to darken again, and the race was on to finish up before the storms blew in.
We bid farewell to Mrs I (who insisted on giving us a giant bar of chocolate), while it was still dry. We beat the rain!
