Re-Re Joyce, when a coach says run, respect her!
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Hackney.
- Sunday, 21st of August 2016
On Sunday morning Hazel and I visited Joyce to help in her garden. On previous visits goodgymers had done a great job of weeding the patio and flower beds, this time the aim was to cut back some trees and the ivy covering her fence.
It was great to see Joyce again, who greeted us with smiles as usual on arrival. News of her recent fall which left her less mobile was sad to hear, but it spurred us on to do as good a job as possible so we set to work. 1 1/2 hours later after plenty of chopping, pruning and friendly chat the trees and ivy were looking as well trimmed as Craig David’s beard.
Joyce was delighted with our work, and I was even happier when Hazel produced some tasty brownies for us all to enjoy! So refuelled and with words of encouragement and running advice from Joyce we set off on our runs home.
Afterwards Joyce said she was very pleased with the results. She stated "It is as if Hazel and Andrew were Born to Do It . If I could have them round 7 Days then I would. "
