The Good Food in Greenwich Pop Up kitchen happens every month, using donated surplus food to provide a free meal for anyone in the community. GoodGym are now becoming regular volunteers at the event, and this month it was held at Mycenae House. When we arrived, the event organisers were dealing with their first challenge: what to cook! They didn't know what food would be donated until the day, and in a Ready, Steady, Cook style challenge, they quickly had to work out how to use the ingredients to make some tasty meals. The ingredients list included: pastry, beef, chicken sausages, pasta, bananas, spinach, chillis, ham, yoghurt, chocolate biscuits, bread spring onions and a very large amount of parsley! GoodGym took charge of three dishes: chicken sausage rolls, salad and smoothies. A production line was established and the time passed quickly as we chatted to the other volunteers. After 3 hours, a huge amount of food was made and it looked delicious! Unfortunately, Gareth and I had to leave in order to get to our next mission, but Nicola and the other volunteers stayed to dish up. I hope it tasted as good as it looked!
