12 Goodgymers run to Colchester Foodbank to give it a deep clean

It's Wednesday night once more so it must be GoodGym again.

After the usual introductions - welcome to our Singapore contingent, Claire, and Helen, who came to the Art of the Possible run on Friday - (congratulations to Tom for a superb time at the Wix 5 mile race last Sunday) and warm up we headed towards the Colchester Foodbank which we visited on the launch night of Colchester GoodGym back in August.

Unlike then we needed our headtorches and couldn't go via Angela's 'jungle route',plus it was some what fresher than in August. This did mean we saw some very fetching leggings being worn by Michelle and Rosie.

Upon arrival at the Foodbank we set about giving the place a through clean.Tom discovered that a tin of corned beef could be used to hold a sofa in place! We cleaned shelves and dusted all over leaving the place in a better state than when we arrived.

After 30 minutes we were finished and one of the dedicated staff spoke to us about how much they appreciate what we'd done. They clearly value our time which is good to know of course.

Regarding the Foodbank they have launched a Pound£Aid scheme with the idea being that 1000 people give a £1 a month to meet the needs of those who are struggling to feed themselves and their families. A very worthy cause for sure.

After the task we focused on the fitness side of the evening. We returned to our usual winter haunt near the Range to run a magic mile.

Everyone worked hard can be proud of their efforts. Everyone completed their mile in under 10 minutes, and you can contact Angela for your individual splits.

After that we returned to Leisure World for our usual warm down, during which Angela reminded us that next week is the monthly social.

I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say how important and enjoyable GoodGym is to us.

New friendships have been made in the last few months. Everyone is very supportive of each other and there's always plenty of chatter. For me the evening goes far too quickly.

To quote A.A Milne's Winnie the Pooh -

'If you live to be 100 ,I want to live to be 100 minus 1 day,so I would never have to live a day without you'

Looking forward to next week.
