Rockery III: The Greatest Challenge
3 GoodGymers made their way to help the The Conservation Volunteers in York.
- Thursday, 19th of October 2017
Three GG Yorkies met at Hull Road Park to help track down a hidden rockery.
We met with TCV, a local conservation company, and some regular volunteers at 9.30am. By 9.40 am, we'd admired the vast range of tools available at the park and Egg had touched a rake, so it was declared time for a cup of tea. Only Huw declined a drink, on the principle that we hadn't actually done anything yet. The rest of us had no qualms. While we drank our tea, Huw did a bonus good deed and helped some people from the council take a collection of full bin bags to their van.
Tea 'break' complete, we were shown to the area we would be working on: our task was to destroy a section of overgrown bushes and brambles to reveal the rockery underneath.
We made great use of loppers, shears, mattocks, rakes and saws to tackle the unwanted greenery and left a much tidier (and more importantly much more visible) rockery behind.
