It was lovely to be back at Salterns today for a litter pick. We've been itching to get back and with reports of lots of rubbish, eager to get stuck in! There were 6 of us, Katie, Sarah, Maxine, Rachel, Mel, Judy and Tess the dog our honorary GG member. Following one of the footpaths meandering around the main field, Sarah was literally dancing down the path full of excitement at doing a litter pick and being with us. It was certainly good to catch up with everyone's news in person. Not far in, Katie tried to wrestle a long piece of plastic boarding out of the ground, but it wouldn't budge so unfortunately had to leave it behind. We found the usual sweet packets and Cigarette butts and as we walked further, found where all the picnics/meet ups had taken place with lots of bottles (enough to set up a mini bar) and lots of cans. Sarah found a potentially vintage empty bottle of Squezy washing up liquid (yes that is the correct spelling!) which she took away to do some more research on. We also spotted a lovely painted stone that someone had left by one of the benches. Wet wipes were also in abundance plus the cardboard boxes that carried the beer in. Some miniature bottles of Jack Daniels and a couple of wine bottles. There were lots of dog walkers and families out enjoying the good weather, some thanking us for doing such a great job, and we passed a few golfers out on the golf course. Having gone full circle back to the car park, we sorted the rubbish to take away for recycling, said our goodbyes and went on our various ways until the next time.
