On a basking hot Sunday morning, four hardy Goodgymers donned the sun cream and sturdy boots to help out at Marston Forest Garden.

Ever ready to take up a scything task, Anwen was quick to notice the well placed scythe and note on the blackboard to help remove nettles and other weeds from a particularly overgrown section of the plot. Matty and Rebecca got more involved with the strenuous task of removing bramble roots from another section before cardboard is laid down to suppress any other weed growth. Ben on the other hand got his hands (and legs, arms and clothes) muddy helping to lay the lining of the experimental pond for the forest garden. Anthony from the Forest Garden was very keen to get stuck in (literally) to help pat down the clay for the pond area with Ben lugging heavy bags of clay to lay down while others joined in. Once the base layer was set and the pond filled in, the Goodgymers felt their task was done and other local volunteers arrived to take up the mantle.

Thank you to Rhian, Richard and Anthony for the invitation and hope to help out soon to further progress this community project.
