Second Time Helping T
3 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Liverpool.
- Saturday, 5th of September 2020
We met Tom, one of T's carer's on site for the second time. This time Pauline and Mat were joined by Jo. It is a massive job and we got down to an hour and a half of hard graft. Tom is amazing as he gets stuck in and had even ordered a skip for us to use. I really didn't think that we would fill it but within half an hour it was nearly full. We got rid of things which must have been in the garden for years and managed to cut back more of the foliage as well. We found one thing for T to keep and that was a lovely little Buddha. There are plans to go back again and finish off the task and give T the best chance to keep on top of things and it was so satisfying to see him smile and joke and feel motivated to do his own work in the garden. It is totally understandable to feel overwhelmed by something as big as this task and how amazing that the local authority and Tom, one of his carers is prepared to help T out so much. One of his neighbours was only to pleased to help when we needed a hammer to put a nail into a broom. It all helps to connect us together more. We even found a patio under all sorts of rubbish and soil that T did not even know he had.
