One potato, two potato, three potato...MORE???
On a chilly January morning, three sisters made their way to the Waterloo Community Centre. There they found a HUGE heap of potatoes waiting to be prepared, ready to feed the hungry masses who assemble there each week.
Sally and Carol set to with gusto, as sparks flew from their peelers. In next to no time (about an hour), they began to see the bottom of the tray, just in time for Mike (one of the chefs) to bring in another full tray...and two big bags of carrots!
Meanwhile, Pauline made a start on clearing out the first of the raised beds. Fortified with tea and croissants, the job was done in an hour, leaving time to help with the veg...
A third task arrived, in the shape of a white van, containing trays and trays of foodstuff from a local foodbank...anything they are unable to distribute is sorted, bagged and rehoused through the Waterloo Kitchen connections...nothing is wasted.
The kitchen relies on volunteers to help sort donations, prepare vegetables, serve meals and clean up afterwards, every Wednesday and Thursday. So, if you can spare a few hours...consider lending a hand here.
A BIG SHOUT-out to Sally on her first GG task.
