6 GG Yorkies met at Escrick Sidings. It was a pretty tough slog out down the cycle path into the wind, but what a beautiful day to be outdoors doing good.
We met Peter of Greenways, who manage this part of the cycle network for Sustrans. Our task was slightly modified, and we were set the task of building a hedgehog and insect hotel. The first task was for Egg to google pictures of these hotels, so the rest of us knew what we should be building!
There was a big pile of rubble in the car park, with a note making sure people knew this wasn't fly tipped. We wheel-barrowed that down to the cycle path, along with pallets and other pieces of wood. Leanne even did a little shoulder workout with some bricks! Handily, there was a huge dead bush which we hacked up into small pieces.
We tried to make it as 5* as possible, with an entrance lobby for the hedgehogs, and a solid roof to prevent rain getting in. We used up all the "fly-tipped" rubble, and were pretty pleased with the end result!
